Sona Mohapatra Slams Kailash Kher For Launching Fresh Talent After Being Called Out For Sexual Misconduct

Singer Sona Mohapatra has been on a slamming spree. A few days back, she was in the news for calling out Shahid Kapoor for essaying a misogynistic character in Kabir Singh and her latest target is singer Kailash Kher. On the occasion of his birthday, Kailash launched a platform called Nayii Udaan for ‘new and raw talent,’ pictures of which hit the web in no time. When Sona got her hands on the pictures, she slammed the singer, who was accused of sexual misconduct by her, a few months back.

In a series of tweets Sona wrote, “Sir, we met last year when you conferred the youth icon award for music hosted by a news channel. I applaud your initiative to start the induction of our gender & thus provide us with equal opportunities, a right enshrined in our beloved constitution.” “Sir, I ask if you are aware of the multiple narratives of molestation, improper sexual conduct & shares of women, (some minors, some journos) in the @IndiaMeToo movement against Kailash. Not 1 or 2 but over 10 women from across board shared their trauma. Matters? @prasoonjoshi_?"

Another tweet read, “Is this PR ‘virtue signalling’ the new way to wash out all our misdemeanours & walk away? Some launch clothing labels claiming to donate to charity aka #BeingHuman (not) & this serial predator launches new talent in music to come across as pious, generous & a benefactor?”

Earlier, Sona had accused Kailash of sexual misconduct. Taking to social media, Kher had extended his apologies, “For all those who know me and have come across me, will know how much I respect humanity especially women, even more for the ones working in media since their work is difficult. I was travelling when I heard the news and got extremely disappointed to know what my state of happiness has been taken for. I am neither aware of the acts that have been mentioned nor remember it. I am almost all the time in my own simple world,  but in case anyone has taken something differently about anything, then it is my sincerest apologies. My devotion to music is what makes me who I am and I am extremely thankful for the love and support,” he wrote.
